Le 8 août 2012 à 23h10 un témoin observe durant une minute le passage S-N en parallèle de deux objets très brillants à très haute altitude. Son témoignage est très succinct et aucun autre témoignage n'est rapporté. En lisant le relevé des passages de satellites élaboré par Calsky, on constate à ce moment (23h10) plusieurs passages de satellites : tout d'abord la station spatiale internationale (ISS), extrêmement brillante (magnitude -4,3) à laquelle sont amarrés le cargo russe Progress, et le cargo japonais HTV-3. Sa trajectoire apparente est du Sud Ouest vers le Nord Est. On constate à peu près au même instant deux autres satellites bien moins brillants (IGS5 H2A Rocket et Alos, de magnitude 2,7 et 3), sur une trajectoire du Sud vers le Nord, se succédant à environ 80° d'écart. Si le témoin a difficilement pu manquer le spectaculaire passage de l'ISS, il est étonnant qu'il décrive un passage Sud vers Nord, et il n'y a qu'un point très lumineux visible. Si c'est les 2 autres satellites qu'il a vu, ils n'étaient pas très brillants. Du fait de cette incertitude et de l'imprécision du témoignage, le GEIPAN classe ce cas "B" : observation probable de satellites, sans pouvoir déterminer précisément lesquels. Le 8 aout 2012 à 11h45 un témoin et son entourage observent durant 15 secondes le passage rectiligne et à vitesse constante d'un point de couleur blanc-gris dans le ciel. Aucune trainée n'est aperçue. Un seul témoignage a été recueilli. Le témoin, qui observe vers le sud, voit passer un objet de sa gauche vers sa droite, c'est-à-dire d'Est en Ouest. Il voit la taille apparente de cet objet rétrécir au cours de son passage. Ce témoignage évoque le passage d'un ballon, de forme mal déterminée, probablement à très basse altitude car sa taille apparente diminue vite. Le relevé météo de Limoges indique un vent d'Est à Nord Ouest à ce moment là, ce qui est cohérent avec cette hypohèse. Le GEIPAN classe ce cas "B" : observation probable d'un ballon ludique, ballon thermique ou gonflé à l'hélium. [GEIPAN classification B — Ballon]
