Probable conventional

[GEIPAN classification B — Lanterne thai]

I was outside smoking a ciggrett, looking at the stars, and noticed a weird looking one. I stared at it for a few minuets then saw other lights on it and figured it was a airplane, i live near the flight path of Dulles Airpor, but it seem to hover in the same spot for a while. It was just a ball of light with a flashing light on it. It started to move a little bit when an airplane started going towards it, but still stayed where i could see it. Then i saw what looked like a shooting star pass by it, and another one appeared a few feet away from the other one. The second one looked like a red star and moved the same way as the other, they both just hovered for a while, i went inside to get a camara but when i came back out they were gone. I've always been skeptical but now I'm a Believer!!!! In a telephoned message, the source of the report assures us that the report is an accurate representation of the facts. PD

North Plains, OR

It moved southwest farther away behind a tree branch and I could no longer see it. I went into my bedroom and could see it out the window. Still the same just smaller, farther away. I got my binoculars and could see it more clearly. I was amazed! I watched it for 40 minutes. I went to get my phone to google it. When I came back it was gone. The sky was dark. I don’t know if it was just a reflection but I could have sworn the colored lights were streaming (not sure of the right word) toward the bottom and flashing. The light was about 60 degrees from the horizon. I live at about 1000’. The object was SW from me in the valley, toward Forest Grove area. I reported this on MUFON.

A couple left my friends house at around 2 in the morning, and I was driving up on a highway, past my old intermediate school. Take in mind my friend's house is only a 5 minute drive from the school. I saw a light in the sky that seemed brighter than the rest, and it kept getting brighter and bigger. I was gonna take my phone out to record but as soon as i was getting it out of my back pack, my car started shaking and a loud humming noise started to come from outside. I dropped my phone and the light was practically taking up the view from my windshield and i couldn't see anything so i stopped my car. For a good 15 seconds my car was almost vibrating and the loud humming noise intensified. I reached down to get my phone to record but when i looked up the humming stopped and the light was gone. My car was farther up the street than where i originally thought i stopped my car when the light appeared, which left me confused but i assumed i might've let my foot off the brake and moved forward a bit, but my car couldn't have gone that far as slow as i was going, especially up hill. At this time i was really confused as to what happened, i thought maybe a plane or trucker came too close to me and just shook my car. But it lasted almost 20 seconds. I also noticed it was almost 2:15. and i swear i left my friend's at 2 am, so i don't know how 10 minutes passed that fast or what even happened.

Lake City (near), SC

So I took out my phone and caught it on camera. Except this time, they where doing the disappearing/reappearing thing in a circle motion, going slightly down. There was at least 8 of them at one time. Then they all disappeared. We have received six photos from the witness, which show very small specks of light, against a dark background. We do not know what the lights are. We have corrected the date above, to reflect a sighting on the evening of March 7th, 2018. PD

I was walking my dog in my neighborhood. As I was walking home, I was looking at the sky. I then saw a small burst of orange light. It spread out in a cylinder fashion. Then it seemed to get smaller and disappear. Then it blinked like an orange star.

Orovada, NV

I was driving North West at about 7:45 pm on March 5th, 2018, when I saw a bright circular orange light appear in the pitch black sky. It lit up and stayed lit for about 2 to 3 seconds and then slowly vanished. It reappeared in the same location after about 3 seconds and stayed on for another 3 seconds before it disappeared for good. ((ADDENDUM FROM WITNESS)) Hello Mr Davenport, The orange light looked as big as a street light, but just a little brighter. It was bigger than any of the stars or planets visible, but definitely smaller than the moon at any given phase. I’ve seen the orange lights in the sky in the same location before. Last time (within the last 6 months), there were 6 of them in a neat row, not too far above the actual street lights. They looked like they were above McDermitt, NV, and they were also stationary. I didn’t file a report at that time. I didn’t realize that I could! Thank You, ((END ADDENDUM))

Tacoma, WA

March 4, 2018; Tacoma, Washington. 8:45 PM. Witness went outside to take the garbage to the alley and noticed a red glowing object (not blinking) off to the east, estimated at about a mile or two away. It was about 30 degrees above the horizon, at first assumed to be a helicopter or a plane since there's a military base and airports nearby. But he noticed it was travelling faster than any military aircraft he'd ever seen, and being as close as it was it made absolutely no noise. It traveled left to right really fast, then stop instantly, then went back in the opposite direction and instantly stopped, then returned to right again "super fast". It moved off towards the SE very quickly and he lost sight of it. (MUFON CMS)

Colorado Springs, CO

In passenger seat, when to my right side, overlooking near the world arena by Ft. Carson, a bright light none blinking moved in our direction and just stopped. Stayed in position while we were stopped at a stop light. Rolled down my window so make sure I wasn't seeing just a helicopter from the base but no other lights were around to give any hint of a apache. It disappeared right where it was hovering. Seen it the following day at around the same time and same spot too.

I was fixing a cup of coffee around 6 am, looked out the window and in the northern part of the sky about 20 to 25 degrees above the horizon traveling from east to west was a bright sparkling light. At first glance it was not moving then it stared moving slowly toward the west. I observed it for about a minute before the view was obstructed by the treeline. Witness provides no contact information. PD

I was with 2 other people when we saw them. I am a retired prison guard ad a trained storm spotter. I got verification that the objects were sky lanterns from the people who had the birthday party. NOTE : OBJECTS WENT FROM GOLDEN COLOR TO WHITE IN COLOR

I could clearly make out with the naked eye three red lights in a tight line flashing together in the distance at about 45 degrees above the horizon, with two or more white lights just next to them. They remained stationary for at least 30 minutes. They could have been a couple of hundred yards to a half-mile away; it was difficult to tell the size of the object to which the lights were attached. There was no sound of a helicopter or plane. The line of lights was tilted vertically. They flashed erratically. The white and red lights synchronized a few times. Sometimes the white lights ceased, leaving just the red ones. They did not move. I watched them about five minutes the first time, made the first video at 1855 (6:55pm) and I took video 2 at 18:58 (6:58pm). I then went into the Fresh Market supermarket. My girlfriend and I emerged about 25 minutes later and the lights were still there in the same position. We then departed. I've since been back to the site, and there is no tower there that might have had lights on it. ((ADDENDUM FROM WITNESS)) Hello Peter-- Thanks for the reply! Yes, to the eye they were (at least) three red lights bunched in a line very closely, with two/three white lights that almost overlapped the red, and strobed in and out of sync with them. The red lights were always flashing and very erratic in rhythm and intensity. Yes, you can certainly share the videos. ((END ADDENDUM))

Walsenberg, CO

March 2, 2018, about 1030 at night. It was a clear cloudless night, with a full moon. I was driving north on I-25 near Aguilar, CO, when I saw about 5 yellowish orange lights fade on and off in a row. From where I was, it appeared they might have been between Walsenberg, CO, or Colorado City, CO. I saw these lights 5 or 6 times. I called a buddy who was about 20 minutes behind me on I-25 to tell him about it and he saw them also. I stopped at the truck stop in Walsenberg, where there is a big dirt lot in the back. The lot is open and clear of anything that would block my view. To try and see this again and to try to get a video of it, which I did. At this point, I had seen these about 6 times in a 20 minute period. The last time I saw the lights, I got a video of it and shortly after I heard 2 maybe 3 military jets (I saw 1) flying in the direction of the lights. Unfortunately, my video isn’t very good, since it was the first time I’ve used the video camera on my phone. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

About 6 orange lights appear one by one in a line or a triangle, then disappear. Event lasted for about an hour we also observed what appeared to be military helicopters trying to get closer to the lights.

Colorado Springs, CO

At sunset at my house, I was heading inside from playing catch with my son and happened to look up at the sky in the west to southwest direction from Colorado Springs and saw what looked light a slightly brighter than normal star. I could tell that this was pretty far away and too large to be a drone at this distance. At first glance I did not think anything of what I thought was a bright star appearing at sunset, after maybe only 2 or 3 seconds of first glance while the original "light" (what I though was a star) was stationary in the sky another light appeared directly to the left of the original light. This second light then stopped at a some distance to the left of the original light. The second light first appeared at the halfway point between where the original light was and where the second light stopped and remained stationary. I could not tell if the second light originated from the first light because it was first seen at the midway point. The second light did however travel from the midway point to the left of the original light. When the second light stopped, there was a third light that then did the same thing, starting some distance to the left of the second light, travel a distance to the left and then stopped. As soon as the third light appeared, the first light then disappeared. However, the first and the third light did co-exist for roughly 1 second. Process then repeated around 8 or 9 times in a perfect horizontal direction over roughly 10 to 15 seconds. I could not see the lights past that point because of trees and buildings. The lights appeared around twice the size and brightness of a normal star and moved in a perfect sequence of disappearing and reappearing lights with a "middle light" always present during the sequence. This also happened over a great distance and eventually left my visibility.

Redmond, WA

Six bright lights with one dark object underneath them in the sky over Redmond, WA. They were moving SW to NE at 5:45 PM on 3/2/18 just underneath the cloud cover. There was one bright light some distance ahead of the other five objects. They were all traveling at the same speed. The four bright lights trailing the lead object would quickly change position in the sky. Much quicker than I would suspects an airplane could do. The dark object underneath those four objects never changed position. There was no noise associated with their movement through the sky. I was not able to get to a camera quick enough to take a picture.

Nashua, NH

Sometime around 3:00 to 5:00 am, I want to say around 3:50, me and my borther stepped outside my house for a cigarette, he noted that the moon was huge and and odd color, and I noticed that there were two stars in the sky, the only visible ones, that were lined up pretty much perfectly from our point of view, I thought this was odd and so I pointed at the one on the right and as I did it started moving around a little bit which I then jokingly dismissed as random eye motion, as I finished saying this it took off slowly but at a steady pace across the entire sky all the way out of sight behind my roof. Needless to say its appearance was indistinguishable from a normal star unless there was two of them. I didn't bother pursuing this any further as it was rather disconcerting and I've been having other odd things occurring lately. I thought I saw our city helicopter lights then I stood there and watch a second air craft approach I told my boyfriend to look and then all of a sudden the lights on the aircraft start flashing in weird patterns. my boyfriend said they probably refueling a plane, i said no not with those type of lights. I got freaked out and continued to watch from the kitchen window. Then all of a sudden they were gone.

Upper Darby, PA

From Upper Darby, I noticed a very bright stationary object in the sky to the east near the Phila. airport. It was still light out and the sky was clear. At first it was just a bright light, but lights began to flash around it as a passenger plane passed by at the same altitude. Then suddenly the light went out. Very shortly after that, a fighter jet flew overhead, headed toward the airport. It was close enough to see missiles on the wings and on the underside of the jet. The jet moved slowly and noiselessly over the neighborhood, in a eastern direction toward where the object had vanished near the airport. ((ADDENDUM FROM SOURCE OF REPORT)) Dear Mr. Davenport, I can assure you this is not a hoax. I understand your question and was surprised myself that it was quiet; and what was odd was that it was flying low over the neighborhood. I am ((age deleted--50's)) years old and have seen many thing in my lifetime; I know enough to know this was an out of the ordinary experience. I regret not taking a picture; I was on my phone at the time. I understand this sounds odd; but I wouldn't have reported it if it wasn't so odd. My wife of 35 years encouraged me to report it. Thank you for your inquiry. Sincerely,

The object in question was a blue light. At first, I believed this to be a star, but when I noticed a trail behind it, I knew it was something else. Especially at the height that it was, with two planes under it for reference, I knew that it had to be much higher. Another thing was that for the height that it was, it seemed to be flying pretty fast. Almost seemed to be outpacing the passenger plane under it. The point is, I saw this light, it had a trail behind it that crossed once, like a jet propelled aircraft, it was way too high and fast for it to be a regular passenger plane, and I cant find any information about it on the internet. I don't think it was a jet either. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

It was approximately 8pm last evening, probably a few minutes before. I was coming home from the grocery store and had opened my trunk to get the groceries. The sky was beautiful with bright stars shining - no clouds. I noticed what I first thought might be an airplane flying very high - it looked like it would be flying over the inner coastal waterway and then out over the ocean - just two blocks away. It was moving quickly and it looked like a bright moving light in the sky - kind of like a plane with landing lights on - but it was way too high for landing lights. When I stopped to watch it - curious - it stopped flying and hovered in the sky. I could see it moving around-at first I thought it was turning to come inland, but it just hovered there - like a boat bobbing in the water. I had this very strong negative feeling that I was not supposed to see it and that I should stop looking, so I went into the house. I unpacked the two bags I'd brought in befor! e I went back out. When I went to get the rest of my groceries, the bright like just looked like a start in the sky. I would have never known that it was anything but a very bright star.
