August 3, 2015 · 3:45 AM · FIREBALL

Richmond, VA

My boyfriend and I were walking home to The Fan neighborhood from a friends house on the south side near Midlothian, early in the morning, between 3:30 and 4 AM. We were crossing the "35 cent bridge" that goes over the James River, when, to our left, we saw a blue shooting star-like object with a trail of what looked like smoke fly west for about 2 seconds before completely disappearing. My first thought was that it must be a meteor, but it was way too low in the sky and was flying too slowly. It made no sound and like I said it disappeared after a couple seconds. The whole thing happened pretty quickly, and was like nothing I have ever seen before. There was another person walking toward us going the opposite direction over the bridge and when we crossed paths we asked him if he had seen it too. He said he did and just as we were describing it to each other, we both saw another object flying farther away and in another direction (north), but this one was not blue or particularly lit up. It appeared much smaller as it was much farther away and was going much faster. After searching the Internet for meteor showers in the region or anything to explain what it might have been I have found nothing.

August 2, 2015 · 11:35 PM · FIREBALL

Port Townsend, WA

Aug. 2, 2015/2335 hrs. Huge Explosion in the North East sky, viewed from 12 miles south of Port Townsend, WA. (48.03.23 N.Lat.) An immense explosion occurred low on the horizon, above what appeared to be Whidbey Island (US Navy Base). There appeared an (apparent) ground/sea based (Laser ??) instantaneous streak upward (approx. 45 degrees) just prior to an enormous sky explosion - lasting approx. 6 seconds - of red/orange/yellow fire-flame expanding in height and width. No smoke or steam, and not even remote trailing or falling debris, as in a SAM (Surface to Air missile) or from an aircraft collision. Nor was there a SAM tail or winding search of such. This was an enormous red/orange “FIRE,” expanding all consuming explosion; the visual lasting approximately 6 seconds. And then in an instant disappeared. We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he sounded to us to be sincere and sober-minded. We suspect that he is a highly reliable witness. PD

Then about two minutes later one more bright orange/red ball followed the same path. Then in about ten minutes later one more of the same followed the same path, then disappeared just like the other three prior. All had no sound what so ever. August 1, 2015 · 10:30 PM · FIREBALL

Franklin, NC

Three of us were sitting on my porch in Franklin, NC, when one of us saw the fireball come over the mountains from the west. We all looked at it and I thought it was a comet of some sort, but it didn’t make any sounds, didn’t leave any kind of trail and it was moving much more slowly than it should have been I thought. It moved from West to East just south of us and it took quite a long time to do so. It was glowing like it was on fire but again, no tail. It seemed like a giant hot ball of iron glowing after being pulled out of the fire. Compared to the size of the planes in the sky it was either quite close or very large. After seeing it move through the sky and behind the mountains on the east, it felt more like it was something that was made to look like a comet or meteor. After we couldn’t see it anymore we all waited outside for any kind of sound. Thinking if it hit somewhere we would hear or feel something you know. There was no sound though, even when a jet passes at 30,000 feet overhead you can hear the roar of the engines after it has passed, so it was quite strange that there was absolutely no sound at all. Not sure what it was, but I thought it was worth reporting. Thanks! ((ADDENDUM FROM SOURCE OF REPORT)) My fault, it was 10:30 pm. Sorry about that, Thanks! ((END ADDENDUM))

July 31, 2015 · 10:40 PM · FIREBALL

Salvo, NC

Red fireball or sphere arose from behind a house or the sound (?) and quickly, silently, rose into the sky going Northward. Moved at a very fast speed and then turned westward and disappeared. The light seemed larger and brighter than airplane lights. No sound of a helicopter, and it was quite close (should have been audible, were it a helicopter). July 31, 2015 · 9:00 PM · FIREBALL

Auburn, NY

I first observed an orange flaming light rising in the western sky. The object was in the shape of a ball of flame. It continued in a easterly direction and continued to accelerate in a straight path. At times the clouds would obscure the light. There was no sound or navigation lights. The flame eventually faded but a dark object could still be seen flying to the horizon in Eastern sky. Still no navigation lights could be seen. I am a police officer and would not have posted this sighting unless I thought to be unusual and difficult to explain. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

July 30, 2015 · 12:30 AM · FIREBALL

Southern Pines, NC

A friend and I were walking around in Weymouth woods. As we came out into a clearing, suddenly I witnessed a brilliantly lit green fireball in the sky to the west. The fireball appeared to be very large in size and seemed to be falling from space. For a moment after it disappeared I expected to hear an explosion, however, there was none. Possible meteor? PD

Antioch, CA

I was driving eastbound on Hwy 4 on my home from work. As I approached my exit, I saw an orange "fireball" in the sky. It was moving unusually for any air plane. I watched it as I drove to my house, pulling over twice because it was changing direction suddenly. When I arrived at my home, I called my son to come outside. When I showed it to him, he was speechless. We watched it for several minutes, now moving slowly north to south. It suddenly stopped. It stayed in one place for a good 5 minutes. I took a photo and video. Then it drifted slowly to the west. And then it disappeared but instantly reappeared far to the west within a second or two. Then it started moving south and we could no longer see it. We are both completely stunned by what we saw. When I look at the enlarged photo, it boggles my mind. We could tell this thing appeared to be spinning and that is evident in the picture. I can also see what appear to be lights!

July 26, 2015 · 9:47 PM · FIREBALL

Arnold, MO

At 9:47 CDT Sunday, July 26, 2015, my wife and I had just sat down to watch television. We reside in Arnold, MO, approximately 25 miles south of downtown St. Louis. The windows on the back of our home face north. The ceilings are 18’ tall and the windows are floor to ceiling. As soon as I sat down, I looked out the top window and noticed a bright orange object in the sky that almost appeared to be on fire. From where we are, we can see the flight path to Lambert International Airport. This was definitely not an aircraft. This object appeared to be the size of a distant planet. It was moving in an upward motion, from the southeast to the northwest. It stayed in the sky for approximately 2 ½ - 3 minutes and then disappeared into the clouds. My wife called her sister, who lives next to us, and told her to go on her deck to see the object. She also witnessed what we saw.

Neoga/Mattoon (between; on I-57), IL

It almost looked like a fireball or a rocket exploding as it streaked across the sky then vanished. Quite high in the sky. Again definitely NOT a firework. And no sound either. I almost thought a plane exploded at first. Very strange.

July 25, 2015 · 3:00 AM · FIREBALL

Tumwater, WA

Am nannying overnight again in Tumwater, trying to sleep and one of the two dogs seemed to need out. After the other night I've kept an extra eye out on the sky, right away I noticed two bright orange lights through the trees. Not in the same direction as before. Didn't go outside to try to really see with it being late and alone... It reminded me of the red lights you see on towers... So that's what it could be but they seem very bright and orange, and not blinking. Through tree branches, so had to move back and forth to really see them. I took some pictures this time, although not very great and taken through the window. These ones aren't moving this time. Were still there when I went back inside.

July 25, 2015 · 12:48 AM · FIREBALL

East Providence, RI

I had just got back from my local 24 hour gym and parked my car in front of my house, when I saw a strange looking object flying over what would be Warwick, and then Cranston, RI. This object was emitting red and blue lights pulsating lights, not the standard red and green lights you would see on a helicopter or airplane. This immediately caught my attention since I'm an Airline Pilot, and knew that blue lights should not be on an airplane. I got out of my car to watch this thing and it started to move really fast and at 90 angles. Too fast to be a helicopter because I estimated it moved from atop of Cranston to over Narragansett Bay in less than 10 seconds. Too fast for a helicopter. But then it stopped in Mid Air and started moving down vertically for a landing somewhere over the water of Narragansett Bay. Something that an airplane can't do either. I took a pic of it but I'm afraid it looks like just another airplane because of the quality of my camera phone, and the distance from the object. I had to have been 10 miles or more from this object the entire time. I'm still submitting a pic to the site to give a frame of reference. I also made an attempt to video tape the object. but a street light got in the way, and the object was in the process of landing vertically out of sight, before I could get the frame in focus. NUFORCC Note: We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he sounded to us to be quite serious-minded and objective, in his description of the event. We suspect that he is an excellent witness, in all respects. PD

Portage, MI

On the 24th of July, at approximately 10pm, I saw a light very much like this one: https://www.facebook.com/david.almestica.92/videos/410474715809947/ It was bright, like a planet. It moved slowly from Northeast to Southeast. I watched as it stopped, grew brighter and bigger. Then it split into two and the lights moved quickly to the north. The whole event lasted about 5 min. It was the weirdest thing. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD

Bright white glowing orb. Just above tree line in a wooded area. The orb flashed a lightning bright burst that lit up the area we were standing in. It was as bright as lightning. It was totally silent. It was a cloudless calm night. After the orb flashed it disappeared.
