Témoignage récent (11/10/2012) d'une observation ancienne. Un témoin observe aux jumelles le 9 octobre 2010 à 1h20 un objet lumineux dans le ciel . Le témoin est étonné de l'intensité lumineuse et l'observation de points lumineux de couleur. La carte astronomique, orientée selon la direction d'observation du témoin (S-SO), montre la présence de la planète Jupiter, de magnitude -2,9, c'est-à-dire plus brillante que toutes les étoiles du ciel. De 1h20 à 2h20, elle se déplace vers l'Ouest de l'azimuth 193° à 220°, et s'abaisse de 40° à 36° d'élévation. Le témoin indique l'objet au SO (Sud + 45° Ouest: 225°), très brillante, surtout par comparaison avec les étoiles qui ne l'étaient qu'à peine. On note un vent de Sud-Est, assez humide, qui éclaircit le fond du ciel, masque les étoiles les moins brillantes, et provoque un fort scintillement : ceci explique probablement les changements de couleur vert/blanc/rouge observés par le témoin. Le GEIPAN classe ce cas "B" observation probable de Jupiter. Les écarts de l'ordre de 20° entre les indications de l'observateur et la position astronomique laissent une incertitude qui ne permet pas de classer ce cas A. [GEIPAN classification B — Jupiter]
