((ADDENDUM FROM WITHESS)) Hi Peter, My villas backyard faces east and my clear field of vision from south to north. I would guess is if looking up 3 to 4 miles. I was entering the backyard when I saw the flash. It appeared in a straight line, no definable shape, but a massive light component to the north part of the flash. It appeared to be a few hundred feet above and beyond a picture I am enclosing of my back neighbors roofline. The width of the light was the width of theIr roofline. It may have been miles away but hated to give a perspective on the distance. The tail followed the entire distance of .my Vista south to north. Pic attached. Took the pics this morning. Did anyone else see this? This was not lightning. ((END ADDENDUM)) We spoke via telephone with the witness, and she sounded to us to be very sober-minded. We suspect that she is a highly reliable witness. PD

Arrow Rock, MO

We awoke to a white blue flashing light in Southeastern sky within 1/2 mile from the village. At first thought it was lightning or a transforming blowing up. Then, after calling power company and disqualifying lighting continued to watch the repeating pattern for 2 hours. It was a strobe light pattern and has a slight blush cast to it. It cycled about every 15 sec with 4-6 small pulses and then one big light bulb flash then cycled again. Although the origin was behind the tree line -- probably 1/4mile or less from our house the big light bulb flash lit up our whole backyard. That went on for over an hour very intensely. We were going to get in the car to find it but felt extremely frightened...did not want to encounter something. This is a rural area with no towers or even few street lights or anything that could have explained it. Our dog was extremely upset during this time.

Within about 1 minute, a pinpoint of light appeared out of nowhere, immediately expanded to about the size of a small dinner plate and then shrank back out to nothing. I was completely floored. I immediately texted my wife to come outside. I turned on my phone video and pointed it in that direction and waited. Within about a minute it happened again. Once again I was completely floored. I continued recording although I couldn’t be sure if I was catching the right area with my phone the screen was just black. Within about 1 more minute it happened again for the last time just before my wife arrived. I continued recording a few more minutes but nothing happened. It had an orange tint. It appeared in the same place as far as I could tell. It was not traveling at all and appeared extremely rigid in place. It didn’t cast any light down. It appeared out of empty sky as a pinpoint of light expanded, shrank to nothing in less than 2 seconds. There seemed to be a slight pause between it appearing as a pinpoint and then beginning to expand. To me it at full size it resembled the lens of one of those stage lights that hang above a theatre stage and have a circular pattern in the lens. There was no sound. There were no clouds and the sky around and behind it was very clear. It was not a planet, or an iridium flare, helicopter, drone or anything else like that. IT WAS STATIONARY. IT APPEARED IN THE SAME PLACE 5 TIMES IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES. IT LOOKED EXACTLY THE SAME ALL 3 TIME I SAW IT DIRECTLY. IT EXPANDED TO A SIZE MUCH GREATER THAN ANY OTHER OBJECT IVE EVER SEEN IN THE NIGHT SKY EXCEPT THE MOON. IT MADE NO SOUND. IT CAST NO LIGHT ON THE GROUND. THERE WAS NO TAIL OR FIRE OR SMOKE. IN MY JUDGMENT IT WAS WAY UP OR OUT THERE. THE SKY WAS CLEAR ALL AROUND IT. I COULD CLEARLY SEE THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE ANYWHERE IN THAT PATCH OF SKY. My video captured only one small instantaneous blip. Nothing like what I actually saw. No one else in my area ever reported seeing it as far as I know. I would have thought many people would have seen it as well. I want to know that someone else saw it too as I am beginning to question my own recollection even though my video proves something did appear. Thanks for reading this…. Alberton, MT

I was driving westbound on I-90 approximately at mile marker 64, when I just happened to look to the south out of my drivers side window when I saw the sky light up for just a couple of seconds. I am not sure what the source direction of the flash of light was. But it brightened up the night sky about 20 percent lighter before it faded away. It only happened once. To the south from my location is Lolo National Forest. Behind me about 10 miles was the city of Alberton, Montana. Not any where close to where a firework would light up the sky like this at 1:08 in the early morning hours.

Kings Canyon National Parks, CA

Our family took a recent trip to Sequoia National Forest/Kings Canyon to have some fun on the weekend of the July 4th holiday. The 4 of us (my parents, my wife and myself) stayed at the Montecito Lodge off of the 198 General’s Highway. We only stayed one night--the night of July 2nd. The lodge grounds have several summer-camp style buildings, each with their own amenities. We stayed in the main lodge building which includes the check-in and hospitality desk, kitchen and dining areas, recreation room, lodging and a patio on the southeast outside area for dining and lounging. Around 10PM on the night of July 2nd, my wife, my mother and myself wanted to get a look at the night sky. My father had already gone to sleep. At an elevation of 7,400 feet and a very clear mountain night, we thought we’d take the opportunity to see the stars. We went outside and onto the back patio area of the main lodge: it faces southeast down the canyon, with a clear view far into the High Sierra’s, with Mt. Whitney hidden off to the left, and the 198 Highway winding down directly ahead, and more of Sequoia down below and stretching far off to the South. At night, the view off the back patio was incredible -- completely unobstructed view of a huge area of night sky, with little to absolutely no local light pollution. We counted 2 orbiting satellites and a few aircraft at cruising altitude (though the air traffic was far away, not passing directly overhead) and hundreds of thousands of stars. You could clearly see the Milky Way with your own eyes. My wife left to go up to the lodge room around 10:25PM, but my mother and I stayed out for just a few more minutes. We were both looking directly Southeast, in the lower 25% of our viewing area above the horizon when we noticed one small burst of white light. We continued watching, as our first idea was that it was possibly aircraft beacon. But it then flashed again, with similar intensity but not identical. We both said to each other, “did you see that?” We kept our eyes focused on the area of sky -- we noticed an extremely dim almost pin-point light drifting upward when it flashed again twice, maybe three times, with in-consistent intensity. We were both unnerved and were at this point asking each other, “what the hell is that thing?” After flashing, the pin-point dim light would drift, up then down, left then right and stop -- flash, flash -- and then drift more. This went on for roughly 5 minutes, and eventually it stopped -- appearing to have completely diminished. It was just one sole source of light that seemed to be emitting the flashes, then drifting, to flash again before disappearing. The flashes of light were pure white, and very bright. The flashes expanded to nearly the size of a pencil eraser head held out at arm’s length. We realize that it was July 4th weekend, but this was not anything like fireworks. It was also not civilian aircraft or satellite activity, as we had clearly spotted those aircraft earlier in the evening. The altitude of the light appeared to be 50k feet or higher -- upper atmospheric, possibly--from our perception and location. To our knowledge, nobody else witnessed this, as the campgrounds were very quiet, and most people had turned in for the night at this time. It was clearly something strange, and we both continued to talk about it for the rest of our trip, knowing we’d witnessed possibly something paranormal or extraterrestrial. Observers' backgrounds: 1) 30 year old male, office manager of a production company in Los Angeles. 2) 59 year old female, retired High School English Teacher from Southeast Texas on holiday in Southern California. The location of the Montecito Sequoia Lodge is: 36°41’41.80” N, 118°52’20.15” W, elevation 7,414ft.

Then as the light dimmed I observed it moving northward at a slower speed then a usual shooting star then burning by out. I observed it in the same small section of the sky repeatedly for approximately 20 min. Each time doing the exact same thing but going a different direction in the same small area of the sky. I have tried to reason away possibly natural phenomenon that would create that. Such exploding stars or even Nasa spacecraft burning their rockets. I am curious astonishing what it could be or even if anyone else saw it. The light was so bright!

While looking to the south and observing saturn I saw two large white explosions in the vicinity of saturn. The second explosion was about one minute after the first. It looked like stars exploding as they both flared bright for about a second and then collapsed to black. I am assuming this was in space due to the quickness of the collapse of spent energy.

This is the 6th time my husband and I have seen a flash of light that lights up the entire room with intense bright white light over the past 5 years. The window faces north and is directly under the flight path of JBER, the military base here. We alway rationalized it had to be military related, but tonight I ran to the window expecting to see a military plane but the sky was clear, no planes. I also rationalized it was a neighbor with a really bright flash light, or Google Earth updating their street view. No one was outside, no cars had driven by. Whatever it is, it's so bright it lights up the room as if it were daylight, but with no sound. I have yet to read about a natural phenomenon that would explain it, such as a meteor or asteroid, on the evenings we have witnessed it.

I stepped off into the yard and by this time the sound was gone but i spotted 3 lights flashing hovering i would say about 1000 feet above me. i called my daughter and my wife over to see them flashing and the lights started to split apart and to of them moved to the left of us in the sky as one of them started moving in an unnatural way the other one started blinking bright random colors and then shot off very fast. shortly after the dogs around our neighborhood started barking like crazy.

Gracias. Since the source of the report was outside, to photograph the Milky Way, we assume a nighttime sighting. We have changed the time above, to reflect that fact. PD

Me and my sister and her friend were outside on our trampoline. It was about 9:30 or 10:00 pm and we had a clear view of the night sky from where we were. Then we saw a bluish greyish flash of light and thought it was lightning so we ignored it. Then it happened again, and continued to happen. So we decided to look for the source but we couldn't find one. It surrounded the treeline and didn't seem to orient from somewhere. It typically happened between 6-10 seconds from each other. Every time my mother came out to check on us, it wouldn't occur until she left, then it would happen right after. Even if a car was passing by, it wouldn't happen until right after the car had left. We saw small objects moving through the sky. They appeared white, my sister even said she saw a red one. They were too small to be satellites and didn't have lights on them so they weren't planes either, it was also completely silent besides the river running through the yard. The objects also moved in a completely straight line, some parallel to others moving completely straight, therefore, we concluded they couldn't be satellites. We also saw three stars aligned in a triangle formation. We looked it up and found the "Summer Triangle" constellation, but it was too unproportional to what we had seen, so we don't know what it was.

Scottsdale, AZ

At 3:56am a very bright flash of light was seen in the eastern sky over scottsdale. Around 5 minutes later a loud bang was heard as if someone was slamming the door inside a house. I witnessed this inside and the other witness was outside for the noise. As the sun came up around 4:50am colorful trails that were in uneven circles were seen in the sky. After checking several outdoor security cameras the light was seen. Pictures have been taken of the flash and the colorful trails in the sky. Object reported by the news as a probable meteor. We agree. See photos of smoky trail left high in the sky above Arizona. PD
