I live on Georgetown Lake in southwestern Montana at an elevation of 6,200 feet. On the night of Saturday December 9, 2017, at about 8:30 p.m., I saw about 15 moving red blinking lights. They were to the south of where I live about 1,000 feet above the mountains that are over 10,000 feet in elevation. The mountains are about 15 miles from where I live. The lights were moving horizontally. The lights were moving in a northeasterly direction. I estimate that the row of lights was 10 miles long. They were evenly spaced and all were at the same elevation. It looked like they were being towed because they all followed the same path. The blinking of the lights alternated. When one light blinked on the light closest to it did not. Every other light blinked at the same time. The sighting lasted about 3 minutes. I did not have my phone with me so no video. I did not want to go get it because I did not want to miss what I was seeing. It did not seem possible. There was also no sound. It is very quiet where I live so if it was plane, I would have heard it.

The sky was clear and it was about 35 degrees on Saturday, December 09, 2017. It was about 19:30 when I saw a huge falling star (meteorite) that fell due west. I was the only one who saw this. We had just turned south out of my family’s driveway (a tractor pulling a trailer of 17 adults). It was around 20:30, there were 18 adults on a hayrack ride. We were in a rural area, and I happened to see some flashing round red lights. There were eight lights and they appeared to be “hooked” together by something because they were evenly spaced. The lights would blink on and off at the same time. They were traveling in a horizontal line and in a west/northwest direction. All of us on the hayrack ride saw these lights. We watched the lights for about 15-20 minutes before we could no longer see them. My nephew and his friends who were in a different town about 10 miles east of us, also saw these red flashing lights. He described them exactly how we saw them.

At approximately 8:15 PM, my husband was coming home from work and spotted a formation of lights in the sky. He called me and told me to go outside and look at the lights. The lights were directly over our property and were approximately 1/4 mile wide. There were 18-20 red lights that were flashing in a sequential order. The lights were exactly the same distance apart and looked liked they bowed near the end. There was absolutely no sound and the object was moving very slowly. I called our neighbor and asked her to go out and look. She saw and reported the exact same thing. I also called the Jackson County Sheriff's office and they dispatched a deputy out. The deputy reported to me that he had seen the exact same formation and really didn't know what it was. He also said they had been getting reports from towns and counties in surrounding areas. We live a few miles from the regional airport and are very familiar with small planes and helicopters flying over. This formation was flying at about the same height. It was flying low. I did receive a call back from the Jackson County Sheriff's dispatcher, and she said Scott Air Force base had been contacted and they claimed they had planes flying in a formation over the region. This is absolutely impossible, but not unexpected. The object blocked out the stars, was moving much too slowly for a plane (s) or even helicopters, the formation of lights did not deviate position at all, and there was absolutely no noise.

At 8:00pm on Dec 9th, 2017, I witnessed numerous red and white flashing lights coming over the mountain tops. It looked like they were in formation and the event last around 5 minutes. The lights were moving north west at that time at a steady pace. I did notice a plane fly above them, maybe 5000 ft above them. But my depth perception of these objects was not good though. I tried to film a video on my phone and still have it but for some reason the lights do not appear. I think you could make a case that this was a military event, however our rural area was out of power at this time and I didn't hear a sound while these objects were flying over. That was very strange to me. I didn't have any sense of fear, mostly just one of wonder. Very cool experience. We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he seemed to us to be quite sincere and sober-minded. The sighting occurred at night, so we have corrected the time above. PD

There was a very long line of flashing white and red lights that was seen across Central Missouri tonight by a number of people in several different towns. It was seen North of St. Elizabeth, and they traveled SW and was seen in Iberia and the Lake Ozark area, a short time later. Very very high in the sky. Red and white flashing lights. There was no sound at all. They were not in any formation just a very long staggered line trailing one right after another. You would think if it was some sort of jet there would be some sort of sound by how many there were. It was completely silent. They're are several videos that people are posting on social media of them. I was able to get a video of them at the time. Was very interesting to see. On Dec 9, 2017, around 8pm, I was driving home, going north, when I saw blinking red lights thru the trees. As I came around the bend in the road, I saw lots of blinking red lights at eye level straight in front of me over the road about ½ mile away. I told my boyfriend to look at that! I drove to the head of our lane about ½ the distance to the object and stopped to watch it about 5 minutes. I watched it go into our field and move down towards the house. When it was getting close to the house I raced down the lane (about ¼ mile) to the house and yelled at my mom to come out. We watched it together until it went out of sight. My boyfriend and I saw the same thing my mother saw described below. On Dec 9, 2017, at 8:05pm MST my daughter came running into the house yelling at me to come outside. When I came out she told me to look up into the northern sky. I looked up but didn’t see anything until I lowered my eyes looking at eye level and there it was in our field by our house. It looked to be about in the middle of our field 800 ft away from us. I saw a lot (didn’t count) of dim, rectangular, flashing red lights with an occasional white flash going around the middle of what appeared to be a very large object moving very slowly across our field. It was moving from west to east (left to right) at an angle to the ground with the front lower than the back. It was very close to the ground and there was no sound. We tried to take a picture with a cell phone but you couldn’t see it. We watched it move across our field and go over the trees into our neighbor’s field. We watched the blinking lights until they went out of sight behind the trees. It took about 5 minutes for it to go out of sight about ¼ mile. There is a picture at www.bigskywords.com/montana-blog/a-history-of-ufos-in-montana that looks close to what we saw minus the light going down to the ground and the light on top. The lights going around were dim red with a few flashes of white not as pictured there. This was witnessed by myself (pharmacist), my daughter and her boyfriend (professional chef) We spoke via telephone with this witness, and she seemed to us to be exceptionally eloquent, and objective, in her description of the event. We suspect that she is a skilled, and highly reliable, witness. PD

We (my roommate and I) were ice fishing on Hyalite Reservoir on the evening of Saturday, December 9, 2017, at approximately 20:00 hrs. The sky was very clear with no moon to light the sky and little light pollution otherwise. The stargazing at Hyalite is very good. Looking to the north we spotted a line of red lights moving west to east. The lights were flashing approximately once a second, in no particular order and held a very steady, evenly spaced formation. They eventually vanished behind clouds, so we assumed they were flying at an altitude of at least a several thousand feet above the ground. It took a few minutes for the objects to move across the sky and appeared to be moving like distant planes, but the lights did not match any sort of aircraft we had seen in the sky before, and the steadiness of the line-formation was unique.

Driving on I-70 eastbound, from Hays, to the left ahead was a line of red and white blinking lights. They didn’t stay in a line either. Some would go in front and above the others, but for the most part moving northwest in a line. I exited the highway and took a dirt road, Pfeifer Ave. North. At that time they were right in front of me. I stopped the car to get out and film. Then they changed formation and moved very quickly northeast. Vertical flashing red lights in zig-zag formation. No noise present. When directly overhead they appeared to be chevron in shape. We suspect a nighttime sighting, and have amended the time above, in order to reflect a nighttime sighting. PD

Out of seemingly nowhere a long line of blinking red and green lights just appeared in the sky, no big flash or start, it was very subtle. They were definitly lights though. I thought they might be crane lights, but there were thousands of them in a straight line that seemed to stretch for miles. Maybe they were lights on an airplane, but they moved across the sky so slowly that you'd think they weren't even moving, but over the course of a hour they slowly drifted westward. A plane would've flown much faster across the sky at that distance relative to myself. Best estimate of distance is at the start being maybe a half mile to a mile above me and a few miles to the south west. There didn't seem to be any other lights. It didn't do anything but rapidly blink between red and green and slowly drift west.

There was a long line of red lights in sky. They appeared to be in a straight line, as if hung on a wire across the sky. There were no strobes or blinking lights. I was driving, so I cannot estimate how many lights there were, but there were many! They were not doing anything erratic or spectacular. What caught our attention was simply their presence. We could not ignore their abundance. It was one of those, "Wow! Look at that moments!" They appeared from one end of the sky to the other. We have never seen anything like this in the sky before.

I have been seeing lights for weeks above Billings. Finally got my neighbor to come.out and see. So she calls me tonight and says get out here. This time was insane. 16 red flashing lights in the sky in a zig zag pattern, headed north to south. Quickly and silently. What I have seen before is stationary lights that drift out and come back. Phone camera picked up only a few of the lights. This was insane and I am hearing nothing about it. Apparently, nobody looks up anymore because Billings has been crazy active with unexplained lights in the sky.

Approximately 1730 (after dark) on December 9, 2017, my partner and I were returning from a work site on the Imnaha River, when he said "look at that". When I asked him what saw, he said that he was seeing lights in the sky. We stopped our truck and got out to look. Almost directly over us there were seventeen red lights moving from approximately SSW to NNE at a speed that I would estimate to be that characteristic of a very large jet (relatively slowly). The lights were very large (when compared to the strobe lights generally seen on aircraft) and did not cast a beam or blink. There was no other source of light visible around the red lights--no strobes like normal aircraft navigational lights etc.. There was only a slight noise as they passed--nothing like what I would have expected if these were seventeen large jet aircraft passing overhead. The lights were evenly spaced (it isn't possible to accurate estimate the distance between them) and traveled in a very straight line from the time we saw them until they faded into the distance. I'd like to emphasize that these lights appeared to be very large. Due to the lack of noise, I am assume the objects were at altitude and their large appearance was not due to the fact that they were at a low altitude. In the Characteristics of Object section, there is an option to indicate whether there were aircraft in the vicinity. When the string of lights was quite a distance beyond us, an aircraft (assumed to be an aircraft based on strobe lights flashing) crossed the path of the red lights and continued on until it went out of sight. The strobe lights never deviated from its apparent line of flight.

About 1 min later another one glides past but this one appeared to have a tail looked more like a ballon. clear round and floating mini pastels lights inside of it, and this is night and dark. We have spoken via telephone with the witness, and she assures us that the sighting occurred at 4:45 p.m., as she was returning home from work. The objects were seen moving from her right to left, but she witnessed GREEN lights, ruling out any type of terrestrial aircraft. PD

Approximately 7:10am 9th December 2017 two male occupants on a hunting outing were traveling northwest of Washburn, ND, on a section line road. Both men exited the vehicle and looked north into a clear and calm northern sky. The Constellation Ursa Major or the "Big Dipper" was in very clear full view. Both men very clearly saw activity around the brightest star of the handle portion of the Constellation. The star Alioth appeared to have 3 objects orbiting in a similar manner protons orbit a nucleus. The objects stayed the same relative distance from each other as they chased each other in opposite proximity. For instance, one object would be above and the other below, or east while the other west. The objects moved in their orbit at a speed similar to a candle flickering. The objects orbit covered about one or two degrees of sky or similar to making an inch with thumb and index finger and extending one's arm as a scale. The activity may have been ongoing prior to the witnesses sighting as the event was viewed as it ended. The time of witness and end was approximately 30 seconds. The objects broke the orbiting pattern and moved away from each other about 3 degrees before flashing and fading out. The fade away left visible tales or streaks in the sky and faded away. One witness is well versed in aircraft, flight patterns and abilities both commercial and military. The flight characteristics of the objects were very precise and calculated. The patterns and characteristics could not be duplicated with any known aircraft. Witness is knowledgeable in general astronomy and phenomenon.
