Identified

Disk over Lake Havasu city, AZ

Resolved to a known cause by an investigating body, with the identification on the record.

The report, as filed

I snapped a picture of the tail end of the ring of fire eclipse, and saw what I thought was a lens flare, or reflection of some sort within the iPhone, but on closer inspection of the anomaly in the photo, it looks like some partially cloaked bright green object, within the general shape of a saucer. Also, the light beams seem bent downstream of the object, suggesting the presence of an object or something bending the light possibly. If it’s a lens flare I haven’t seen one like it before. [NUFORC annotation: Camera Anomaly - Certain]

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #178948). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
