Light over GRAHAM, TX
Resolved to a known cause by an investigating body, with the identification on the record.
The report, as filed
Noticed moving light just below Venus moving slowly across sky. The light was very fuzzy so I thought it could be moisture in the air causing it. Venus, the moon and all other stars were clear so I don't think it was moisture. As it moved we could see a faint fuzzy arc ahead of it until it disappeared to the southwest. We did not see any navigation lights and did not hear any sound. Total sighting time was about 10 minutes. I am an Air Force veteran and amateur astronomy is a hobby. What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
