Sphere over Woodridge, IL
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
My husband and I were sitting on our patio and suddenly we start seeing these pulsating, red and orange orbs flying over our heads. It looked like fire in the sky. At first we thought they were drones. But they kept coming we knew they couldn't be. As they flew over us, we saw they were all flying to a specific location. Our experience was amazing.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #176580). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

((ADDENDUM FROM Mr. Gene Weed, photo analyst.)) Peter, Woodridge, Illinois, Friday, December 23rd, 2016, @ 19:30 hrs. (CST) ANALYSIS First Impressions Photo did not include the source of light. Why take just one photo? Description does not match photo. DETAILS Sharp edges of white on tree indicate overlay; Multiple white images on left of beam (opacity of second image layers not adjusted correctly); Roof gable (peak) can be seen through beam (impossible) indicate opacity settings of ~ 60% of second layer; Multiple blue colors on top and bottom of beam (not pure white); No shadow from' Bright Beam', which normally accompanies such sightings; Light Beam does not touch ground (impossible); Background shadows under cars from 'dimmer garage light, is brighter than 'Beam' (impossible), and additionally, shadow angle does not match the beam object. i.e. No shadows or illumination on any object in photo are stemming from this 'Bright Beam' can be detected. All light shadows are from house. Using the camera exposure recorded ( see settings below) the 'Beam' would have saturated the entire photograph, or would have automatically adjusted the exposure settings. SUMMARY Authentic photograph with apparent overlay characteristic; multiple points as described.. REFERENCES http://www.verexif.com/en/ver.php?foto_file=&foto_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nuforc.org%2FS131906.jpg Hoax Regards, Gene Weed ((END ADDENDUM)) We posted the photo provided by the witness, but with reservation, given the bizarre appearance of the "shaft of light." Subsequent analysis of the photo suggests that the photo is a montage, created by overlays. It appears to have been "PhotoShopped," and we are unable to reach the source of the photo via telephone. NUFORC apologizes for having posted the misleading data on December 31st, 2016. PD

My partner and I were out on our patio sitting enjoying the evening as the sun was going down, it was around 8PM and I was smoking a cigar and he was on his iPad. I was looking at some of the wispy clouds turning purplish above us, when I noticed a ball of light approaching below cloud level, around the same height as a helicopter. It was quiet and as it approached, I noticed it sort of shimmered orangish-yellow. It was passing directly over us, and I told my partner, "Look at that, what is that?" He thought it was plane or helicopter at first, but it made no sound and was just a ball of glowing light. "I have no clue, but look over there, there's another one." Just approaching over us was an identical shaped glowing ball of light, not very far behind the first one. They were moving very slowly, almost like they were getting slower and slower the nearer to us they got. We then saw a third appear, all three lights were in a row, almost equal! distance from each other, looking completely the same. The lights weren't pulsing, more like glowing or pulsating, between orangish and a golden yellow. I got up and followed the three lights to the end of the yard, where they became obscured by trees. I tried to find them again but didn't see them anymore. The whole event took less than 10 minutes.

I saw the first object, traveling northeast to southwest straight from my house front door. It was 5 lights in the shape of a triangle, or from the angle I saw it the shape looked like a "backwards" checkmark. The 5 lights changed from a very bright (soft) white color to all 5 turning red with no dimming in between. It was either white or red. The lights pulsed all at the same time between white and red. The object flew in a direction I haven't seen flown by aircraft in my area. The object moved very slowly and made no sound. After a minute or so it disappeared behind trees. Within a minute of the object disappearing I saw the second object. I saw it exactly in the sky where I first saw the first object. The pulsing lights, colors, apparent height, and speed were to me exactly the same as the first object. It stayed in my view the same amount of time as the first object, and disappeared over the same area in the trees as the first. Later when I was! thinking about this I came up with the idea (possibly) this was actually one object and I saw lights on the front and backside. Unfortunately, I don't remember seeing the stars in between the lights being blotted out. I wasn't even looking for that at the time because I assumed it was two separate objects, especially since it would have been a massive size. FYI, I am an amateur astronomer for about 20 years and have fairly good observation skills. The things that strike me about this is the number of lights and their colors, how the lights blinked in unison with no dimming in between, the slow speed, no sound, a different flight path from normal over my area, the fact the second object (had they both been airplanes) would have been flying in the "air wake" of the first, which I think airplanes avoid.
