Light over Harrisburg East of I5, OR
A conventional explanation is favored by the record but was never formally confirmed.
The report, as filed
I was on my way home from work driving on I5 northbound and I happened to noticed a string of lights in a completely straight line and not moving. As I continued to look at them the bottom 2 lights #'s 8&9 slowly faded out and disappeared then in about 5 seconds reappeared. Approx. 1-2 min. later the 3rd light from the top just disappeared for about 2 seconds then suddenly reappeared. About 3 min. into watching the lights they all slowly moved closer together all while staying in a perfectly straight line in the same location in the sky then all of them slowly faded out and never came back. [NUFORC annotation: Starlink - Probable]
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #175833). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
