First, this is the first time I have ever reported seeing a UAP. I am fully aware that most UAP can be identified, and that certainly may be the case here. However, this was so unusual, that I have felt the need to at least report what I saw. My wife and I were at the beach in Delaware. The East Coast of the US is, obviously, a major fly-way for airport traffic. We saw many jets that day, at cruising altitude. We also see military aircraft from time to time as well. In the middle of the afternoon I observed a cylindrical/spherical/circular-like disk traveling at a rate of speed that was anomalous to all other aircraft. It was moving in a straight path heading ENE out over the ocean at a high altitude. I knew I had never seen anything like it before. I could not hear any aircraft-related sound, as is typical with other aircraft. I attempted to get my wife to visually verify, but it was moving too quickly and it was out of sight very quickly. I dismissed the possibility of a drone, because it was too high, and too large. It was definitely not a passenger plane or military aircraft that I am familiar with. The most logical, and easiest explanation is that it was just an ordinary passenger or military aircraft, that I could not immediately identify within the short visibility window. But, this was different, and I immediately knew this was not that. My wife and I both have doctorates and are retired academics. We understand the concepts of reliability and validity. We always look for rational, scientific evidence for explanations. We are aware of the number of UAP reports that are being generated around the world, and off the east coast of the US. I can't explain what I saw, but I can report it as the anomaly it was at this time.
