Light over Ashburn, GA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My wife and I were outside walking our dogs when my wife said, "Look at that light, it's moving." I saw what appeared to be a bright planet like Jupiter or Venus to the southeast, but it began moving slowly forward with quick left and right maneuvers and then hovered overhead. There was no navigational lights on the object. At the same time, there was a very bright white light with steady red spikes just west of our house that was just above the treeline about 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile from our house. It was hovering in one spot. We watched the two lights for 20 minutes and then went inside. The bright star light southeast of Ashburn, GA was there two nights later about in same spot as previously, and did the same movement as previously, moving northwest, stopping, left, right, stopping and hovering again overhead. We watched it again for 20 minutes.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #172690). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
