Sphere over Dayton, NV

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was sitting on my back deck watching a commercial plane in the distance. As I was watching the plane, a bright light suddenly appeared out of nowhere right above the plane. It hovered above the plane between the wing and the tail section. It just hung there in the sky for four seconds and then flew off, very fast, in the opposite direction from the plane. It flew for two seconds and just vanished. It was daylight, clear skies no clouds. It flew faster than the plane. PS: if you do contact me by phone, and if I miss your call, please leave a message and I will return your call. Thank you.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #170582). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I am a retiree from Baltimore,Maryland who now resides in Dayton, Nevada. I am a former Certified Wastewater Treatment Operator. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Geography/Cartography from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. On the night of August 8, 2020 I decided to sleep on my back deck (for the first time ever) to look at the stars and perhaps the Milky Way if visible. I had just entered my sleeping bag when I noticed what I thought was possibly a satellite moving across the sky. It looked like the size of a planet, larger than a star. Then I noticed another moving "star" directly behind the first moving object. It was not as brilliant but was in a direct line behind the first---at quite a distance away. I waited to see if it would overtake the leading object, but it never varied in distance. Both "stars" moved without sound and at a very slow, deliberate pace, almost like a zeppelin. They moved t! oo slow to be a airplane. As it moved forward, North by Northeast, the front "star" seemed to fade as if going into a cloud or haze. However, neither of these conditions were evident. Meanwhile the trailing "star" seemed to fade as well but took on a red dim glow. It did not flash, blink or strobe. (The front "star" never change color). At one point both "stars" nearly disappeared only to momentarily become brilliant and then again fade. All this while, they maintained the same exact distance in an exact straight line. I looked to see if any surrounding stars were blocked out to reveal a shape between the two "stars". I noted no shape what so ever. However, if this was some sort of "airship", it would have been huge in length. I gazed at the "stars" until they left my range of view. No change in direction or sudden velocity variances. Just a slow and deliberate cruise. It was also very high in ! altitude. That is why I initially believed it to be a satelli! te.

Dayton, NV

As I walked outside, at approximately 05:15am, something caught my eye. When I looked up at the morning sky (still dark, Sun light was rising in the eastern horizon) I saw multible small, dim White Dot Lights (WDL) moving around in a small area. Then, one of those Dot Lights would instantly flash bright for a couple seconds, at the end of the flash, I could see a couple dim White Dot Lights moving away from the flash area. Those dim White Dot Lights, after a couple secounds, would disappear. Then multiple dim Dot Lights would appear close to wear I saw the first set of lights. And those lights did the same thing. Then it happened again, then again. So I ran inside the to grab my cell to record it, and couldn't see any more going outside. This all happened in small patch of the sky, looking streight up and slightly to the North. DISCRIPTION: the dim Dot Lights looked the same as a dim star at night. The bright flash was slightly brighter than the brightest star in the night sky. Anyway, I saw this. It was quick. It ended. And now going on with the rest of my life .... cheers!

My wife and I were in the backyard stargazing. My wife pointed out what looked like two faint stars east of the moon that were not there a minute ago. They were motionless for about a minute and were increasing in brightness. At that point I thought they were two planes heading toward us. Then they started to rotate around a center point, very slowly at first then increasing in speed but continued around a center point. That didn't seem plane like, definitely not stars. Then the lights disappeared suddenly. We are in an area of military bases.
