Light over Monarch, MT, MT

Friend told me to look to what I believe was the east. There was a fuzzy spot in the night sky and we thought maybe it was the Andromeda galaxy. I quickly noticed the spot was getting bigger. We immediately gasped when we realized this was an object coming toward us. Suddenly multiple people stopped and watched as this point in the sky was coming down at an angle with a huge cone like plume behind it. There did not seem to be a fire trail, no noise, no giant flashes of light. The object itself seemed too just be a small point of dim light. The night was so dark and the light dim to where cameras weren't able to pick it up. We eventually watched as it went behind the mountains and that was it. No noise or anything. The cone plume left behind took up quite a portion of the sky but eventually dissipated.
