Oval over Montrose, SD
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
We arrived at campground and getting out of the vehicle my husband said, look UFO's. He laughed because he knew I believed in them and he didn't. But they were fairly large, Under the clouds and were brilliant white with a long dark centers. They were not circular, but on the oval side. The closest one seemed to have a small shadowy section on the lower right end. They never moved from their positions during the whole time, but they slowly over the half hour grew smaller as they retreated farther away. Going above the clouds and out of sight. My husband is now a believer.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #168568). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
