Light over Lake Hopatcong, NJ
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I was recording the lightning and captured something moments before the strike. A red light zoomed in my shot and got sucked into a part of the sky. When I zoomed into the part it went into, it resembled an opening or a crack of light. Not the lightning. The lightning struck moments after. Unrelated to lightning strike. Only noticed this while slow motion viewing my storm sighting. Red light shoots into a crack into the sky. I have attached the screen recording of the video with slow motion and zoom created
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #168520). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I noticed an object in a video I was recording during a storm. I had to zoom in and replay on “pause” setting many times to capture the speed. A red light appeared to have been flying and maximum speed towards an area in the sky that revealed a slight crack in the color of white/yellow. I have sent this report over the weekend but I will attach a better version of the replay here

Beautiful clear night observing sky during a period or not sleeping. Noticed a “star” in the sky I thought that was moving- downloaded a sky app and noticed it WAS moving and not coming up on the app. It then had a bright white light and moving in very slow but unsteady patterns, lower to the ground. After about 15-20 minutes it started moving faster and truly disappeared/light was off (gone).

The object was shaped like a model of a molecule with loud rumbling and a star shape at the center.
