Oval over Piedmont, SD

It was raining off and on that day. It was very hot. I was on my way to Sturgis from Rapid City, via freeway to attend a patriot convention and concert. The time was early evening somewhere between 5-7pm. Headed westbound on the freeway straight ahead there were beautiful, dark green mountains and just slightly to the right of center of my vision if looking straight ahead while driving; I saw a huge globe of cloudy white move straight upward. It appeared it had come off of the ground and straight up into the clouds that were hanging kind of low due to the storms that were off and on. The color was the exact same color as the stormy clouds. They weren't black or dark gray. They were light gray and white. I knew that this large ball could sit right in the clouds just above all of us completely hidden. It disappeared as soon as it hit the clouds. This ball was so large that from the distance I was to it it seemed that if I were standing upon it it would be to me looking up at a hot air balloon. Big. I feel it was larger than a hot air balloon since I was so far away. It wasn't exactly spherical and it wasn't exactly oval. It was both. Just a tad off. It had a very soft look to it. No rough edges and no lights. If it was exactly spherical then it could've been something malleable ( might be the wrong word for this) that as it lifted the force from doing so would pull it out of shape a little. Like pulling a water filled balloon and see it change shape and extend a little. It was horizontally oval. The curvature of the freeway took me to the mountainside then being on my left and I remember thinking that this was about where that thing lifted from the ground. I tried to look over at the green, beautiful mountains to see if I could see any kind of doorways into the ground or hidden in the mountain by chance. I looked to the right and saw a patrol officers cruiser lights on. They were pulled off to the right side of the road in a little half moon pull off area from the freeway. Another car was also there. Not sure of someone had broken down or was getting pulled over. I would like to know of there were any other reports. It was daylight. There is no way I am the only one that saw it. It was too big.
