Cigar over Alexander, NC
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I watched a cigar shaped object with binoculars hover for 2 hours (23:30-1:30am) until cloud cover impeded my view. It was located at 150 degrees SE from my side yard at approximately a 25 degree inclination. It had lights across the midsection of the shape and appeared to move slowly East as the object became smaller. It never disappeared or changed altitude. I go outside every night to view the sky and have never seen this before. Woke my husband, a retired satellite engineer, up who also saw the object. Neither of us could find an explaination of something that could stay stationary for that length of time.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #160487). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

At approximately 6:25 pm Eastern Standard Time in Alexander, NC I witnessed a series of 25 to 30 lights traveling in a near straight-line formation. These unknown objects we traveling from the west, towards approximately 60° - 77°east. I quickly called to my 16 year old son, his friend and my wife to share in the sighting of this phenomenon. These objects stayed in view for about 3 minutes as the slowly faded into the distance. This was absolutely the most amazing thing any of us had ever witnessed in the night sky. The lights were a solid white color the entire time of our sighting and there were no flashing lights. They were traveling at a steady pace similar to the speed of a commercial aircraft. Alexander, NC
I was standing on my deck while watching a older model mono wing aircraft, do and practice barrel rolls about 1000 feet up when something else caught my vision and I looked slightly downward to see a translucent cylinder heading in an west to east pattern flight and as it entered rays of the sun it became visible and then would disappear and then become visible again as it hit another Ray, this happened three times before it finally just disappeared into the blue sky. It had no wings and there were no contrails. Also there was no sound and this cylinder I saw it was much closer than the aircraft doing the barrel rolls. I was facing south when I saw this at about 90 degrees.
