Sphere over Powhatan, AR
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I recorded this very early this morning. At first I thought it was just a street light but then it started moving and moved down towards the ground and came closer to the point that I thought it might even come into the yard. Unfortunately, I didn’t think about recording it until a few minutes after that and although it does show it moving some, it doesn’t move nearly as much as it did before I started recording. It seems to get brighter and then dim. I have absolutely no clue what this thing is. There was no noise. I’ve never seen a weather balloon so I don’t know if that’s an option. Gas light?
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #156452). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
