The report, as filed
12/26/2019 Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY At approximately 7PM I was driving down the block heading west towards the shore about two blocks east of Shore Road. While driving I saw extremely low flying craft of a shape that I was unable to determine. It was flashing very large green and red lights. I thought that perhaps it had something to do with the Christmas holiday. It was flying so low that I thought for a second that it might be a drone. But its size was much too large for that to be the case. Since I was driving I was unable to get a clear look at it. I thought it was a helicopter but it just didn’t seem consistent with that for a few reasons. Firstly, the height at which it was flying and the speed at which it was moving didn’t seem like normal operations for a helicopter. If it was a helicopter flying at that height it should have produced a fairly loud sound and I have no recollection of there being the well-known buzz of a chopper. I was able to see it for maybe ten seconds at most, focusing on the road and glancing up to try to get a look at it. By the time I was able to pull over, within 30 seconds tops there was no sight of it whatsoever, nor was there any residual sound. Since I witnessed this in NYC I was hoping someone else might be able to corroborate my account or got a better look at it and was able to identify what kind of craft it was. That’s why I’ve submitted the report here.

My son aged 10 told me he saw lights in the night sky that he’d never seen before. I was in the shower and my wife was working in the other room. I came out and saw these orange lights. I hadn’t seen these lights before either. We called my wife in who also observed them. We watched them until they all floated into the clouds and vanished. My son theorized they were Chinese lanterns. Perhaps they were, but I felt it couldn’t hurt to alert someone to their presence. Thank you so much for taking the time to look into this. PS I have video but the file size was too large so I put some screen grabs for you to see. There was a screen in front of the camera lens but I opened the screen for the end of the video. I was looking out the window and saw a red ball moving across the sky then it turned black, well from my view it turned black and I went to get my phone off the bed so I can record it and it was gone

"My wife and I were on our rooftop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, when my wife noticed a string of lights high in the sky, moving rapidly. I exclaimed, "Wow, I think that's Starlink!" I quickly reached for my Sky Guide app and opened it, but to my surprise, Starlink did not appear on the app. Just as the lights passed directly over our heads, they began to vanish one by one, disappearing into the night sky, very near the star Rastaban. Intrigued, I immediately went downstairs and checked the Starlink tracker, only to find that Starlink satellites were nowhere near this part of the planet at that time." Even though Sky Guide and the Starlink Tracker did not indicate anything, this sounds very much like Starlink. [NUFORC annotation: Starlink - Probable]

Looking out of my window in Williamsburg late at night, I saw what appeared like a bright red star in the sky, possibly a laser beam. It was there for hours. Two nights later I saw it in a different spot and then again a few days later.
