Sphere over Johnsburg, IL

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Me, my boyfriend, and his mom were sitting outside on the Fox River having a bonfire and noticed 3 orange balls of light in the sky in a triangular formation. They were then followed by 4 more, 1 by 1, over the trees across the river from east to west. Altitude could not be determined nor could size. Definitely not known aircraft or drones. Disappeared without going into cloud cover. They were in the sky long enough for his mom to run and get binoculars and we could make out a definite structure to the “spheres.” So cool!

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #149356). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

Stepped outside on our deck on 4/26/20 at approx. 9:20 p.m. just to look at the moon and venus, and we could not miss the single file line of lights in the sky, unevenly spaced but close enough together that we could count approximately 15 lights in a row. The last two lights were next to each other but still in line at the end of these UFO's. The UFO lights came from the Southwest and heading to the Southeast from Johnsburg Illinois. The white lights appeared to be round and were flying at high altitude. They were large enough to see clearly. No aircraft noise. It was a little windy outside and the sky was clear and bright with stars. I have never seen anything like this before and we do a lot of skygazing. We could not see an object, just bright large lights.

Many vertical lights constant no blinking, going across the sky, slower than a plane lower than a plane, but not a helicopter. Moved from the Northwest to the southeast and disappeared out of site.

Johnsburg, IL

Heading from my grandparents house in Johnsburg out on to chapel hill road near the Johnsburg Bank. As my friend pulled up to the stop sign I noticed, what appeared to be, a flying fireball. It moved very slowly over the tree line. I pointed it out to everyone in the car and no one could identify it. We pulled away before it moved out of view. It resembled a craft that we, as group, had seen before that flew over my grandparents house the weekend before. (I will file another report on that incident)

My family, as well as my friends were spending the weekend out at my grandparents house and we decided to have a bonfire. During the bonfire I had leaned out of the BBQ hut that we had our fire going in and noticed, what looked like a flying fireball, silently fly into the tree line, heading north across the lake. I pointed it out and everyone dismissed it as an air plane. As the night went on the light returned, same size and shape heading the same direction, this time a second one rode next to it (the objects were facing in such a way it looked like headlights in the sky), again with no noise. I pointed it out and as i did the two fireballs began to spin around each other then slowly began separating away from each other. We observed it until the two craft disappeared into the tree line and out of view behind the house. Witness indicates that the date is approximate. PD

On 6/08/2014, in Johnsburg, Illinois, my wife, kids and I observed a steady stream of reddish/orange lights emerge from East, and progress at a rapid rate towards the South West. The lights were mostly following a straight line formation, with a few further South the all of them. We did not hear any sounds, and the lights were much brighter than the foreground. They seemed to emerge from the darkness, get brighter, and then vanish as fast as they appeared. The lights were bright red, not aviation lights. From my vantage point it appeared that these lights were increasing in altitude as the lights became dimmer and dimmer until vanishing. We spoke via telephone with the witness, and he seemed to us to be quite eloquent and sober-minded, in his description of the sighting event. We suspect that his report is an accurate portrayal of what was seen. PD
