Light over La Verkin, UT
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
We were sitting around the campfire in Zion National Park, we saw a star-shaped white light much brighter than any star or satalite ive ever seen. The light was knear the horizon and was moving at a fast pace towards the horizon (straight down). It seemed almost like a shooting star but had no tail and stayed a constant brightness. Before the light reached the horizon it suddenly went out and 3 small orange lights dropped from where the light was. The three orange lights seemed to go out just before reaching the horizon. There was no sound. Initial light seemed to be moving at the pace of a shooting star or a falling object.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #147618). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
