Light over Hauula, HI

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

The light changed directions moving horizontally over the ocean towards the windward side of Oahu. Light made a small dip down then back up to same horizontal path it previously was in. The light started to dim and then completely disappear when we noticed an airplane traveling in the same direction. The light then reappeared but was dimmer and moved away from the airplane in a direction directly away, along the coastline, from our position and dissapeared again as the airplane continued in a horizontal direction towards the south (inward towards the middle of the island). The light again appeared at a farther distance, along the coastline, one last time before disappearing for the last time. My wife and I were on the tail end of our two week vacation at Pat's at Punalu'u. We did our routine night walk around the complex and sat down on recliners to look out over the ocean since it was our third to last night there. That is when I noticed the bright light.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #146285). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
