Light over Braintree, VT
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
Single point of light traveling south to north, slightly east of directly overhead. Appeared as a star but moving fast enough to cover 1/5th of sky in 3-5 min. Traveled from region of Sirius toward Ursa Major passing through the bottom of the cup of Ursa toward Polaris. Stopped two finger widths beyond Ursa, then reversed direction, appearing to follow the same path back, until it disappeared. Immediately after passing overhead moving south, several streaks of light flashed east and west in shallow angles perpendicular to the object's path.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #145347). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
