As reported

Sphere over West College Corner, IN

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I was watching the clouds around 1:30 ish pm and I witnessed a ball of light following a jet at some distance away. The ball was catching up to the jet rather fast and as the ball came within moments of collision with the aircraft, the jet then changed course immediately to a 60 or 70 degree angle in an upwardly direction. The ball continued in a straight line then suddenly slowed as if it knew I was watching. Then suddenly a cloud formed and was lost to sight.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #145254). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
