My girlfriend and I are in our early 60’s, we are educated, healthy and self-employed. We live in the country. It was a clear Monday night, around 8:00 PM. I was walking down are private road and noticed an unusual reddish-orange object in the western sky. From my view, it was about the size of a star, its position was at about 2 o’clock due west of me. It was the only thing in the sky that color and was at times moving left, right, up and down, sometimes it would hold still then move diagonally to the right or left like it was searching for something, it seemed to be random. I never saw it move from its position more than about 5 degrees. I ran to get my girlfriend not wanting it to disappear, she watched it with me for about 5 minutes and confirmed what I was seeing. I went to get my binoculars, it was clearer in its color and appeared to be glowing but too small to make out any detail, I continued to look at it occasionally over a 45-minute period, before retiring for the night but it never went away.
