As reported

Chevron over Dewey, AZ

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

The craft blinked on out of no where. Clear sky. They blinked on one by one. There were multiple lights on the Vee-shape. The event lasted just under 10 seconds and one by one they blinked out. Disappeared. Five minutes later three Military jets showed up in the same spot. They were traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon reaching the location they made a U-Turn and flew back towards the Northwest. The craft were BIG! BRIGHT! And BEAUTIFUL! They resembled The Phoenix Lights. ((ADDENDUM FROM WITNESS)) Hello Peter, I have not has a chance to check the link as to what happened in Phoenix last night but I did check a few minutes ago. It was a meteor. I do allot of night sky photography up here on the mountain and I am familiar with all the atmospheric distortion and tricks the night sky can play on you. I am also an Engineer who is prone to logic, science and rationality. I have seen many things in the night sky. From Iridium satellites to meteors to space junk so I have a very good understanding of what is naturally and what is not. I am working on the drawing for you now. Here is the link to what happened in Phoenix last night but it is just a meteor. http://theweek.com/speedreads/737519/what-strange-light-over-phoenix-last-night Regards, ((name deleted)) ((END ADDENDUM))

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #137266). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
