Light over DeLand, FL
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I played perfectly still for at least 10 to 15 minutes. During this time it varied in movement from remaining still,or rapid side to side, up and down movements. I watched it until it moved, somewhat quickly, out of view of the window. I stood up and watched it for a few more minutes until it seemed to disappear.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #136514). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

It was early in the evening, but dark due to the previously mentioned time change. I'm again, guessing but I think it was probably about 1930 hrs. I left my house to take my dog for his evening walk and as I turned westbound onto my street, I saw what I thought looked like a Chinese lantern. I watched it briefly until it disappeared behind a canopy of oak trees which lined the street. Moments later, I saw it reappear from behind the trees and a few seconds later a second one, then a third one. I would describe these "lights" as spheres with an orange/yellow color. The three looked identical and moved laterally or parallel to the ground not appearing to gain or lose altitude. I now realize that the first light I saw was the last one to disappear behind the trees just before they all reappeared. They were all equidistant to each other, and if an imaginary line were drawn connecting them, the end result would be a triangle. I don't know if these were three separate spheres, or if they were three lights on a single larger possibly triangular shaped conveyance. The spheres were last seen moving toward the west of my location towards the town of DeLeon Springs, Florida. Source of report indicates that the date of the sighting is approximate. PD

My wife and I were exiting I-4 at the State Road 44 exit heading into Deland for dinner. As we were on the on ramp directly ahead of us above Volusia County Fair Grounds we observed a fireball. As I was driving I was being careful to watch the road while we observed it. The object was orange like a camp fires flame. It appeared round in shape. I mentioned to my wife it may have been a Chinese lantern, but it moved too quick to be a lantern, yet too slow to be a meteor. As we continued to watch it, it appeared to extinguish itself for a moment, but not completely. A few seconds after it 'extinguished' itself it reappeared as bright as it was when we initially spotted it. We lost sight of it as we merged with traffic on State Road 44- it was now behind us. We pulled over as soon as it was safe to see if we could get a better view but we could not find it again. There was a light aircraft flying in the area, but no where near and at a different heading that of our mystery object. Sighting of 2nd stage ignition of missile launch at 1942 hrs. (Eastern). PD

When we would try to take pictures, it would back into the bushes and turn down its lights. The saucer craft kept an eye on us even flying across the lake to check on us if we got to loud and then return to position.

The light seemed to dim a bit and start to move in our direction. Then it veered toward the South East. As it cruised along, the lights began to change. The once solid light now looked like the lights on a plane or multiple lights. The color was still orange but dimmer and smaller. I almost thought it could be a drone. I didn’t hear any noise from engines. We watched as it flew away and disappeared into the distance. What I neglected to say was that as I observed it I was shooting pictures on my cell phone camera. I couldn’t really see the UFO through my lens so I just pointed into its direction and took my best shot. I was astonished when I looked at the pictures I had captured. It wasn’t at all what I thought I would see. One craft or meteor or space junk or satellite or UFO whatever it is was appeared almost rock like with sharp rectangular shapes that crossed like wings. The other object was an oval or almost skeletal in shape. Another shot of a similar bright white rock with glowing orange shading was similar in shape to a VW bug. They were flying in tandem. You can also see the moon in some of my pictures. To me it has the appearance of an old satellite but I can’t explain the meteor. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you, ((female name deleted))

While driving on SR A15 I saw the yellow-orange light in the air. There were 3 of them flying in a triangle formation - very slow, heading from Northwest to Southeast. A couple seconds later, a single one appeared and flew the same direction. This one could be seen almost 1 minute in the sky.
