Fireball over Anchor Point, AK

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Looking out the window towards Homer we noticed the object above the tree line hovering for about 15 mins. It was flashing white red blue & balls of light dancing around each other fast. Grabbed the binoculars to get a better look and could see little trails of light as the balls darted around and then it seemed to move around barely at first then more and more erratic until it just sort of faded out into the distance towards Kachemak Bay out of sight. We spoke briefly via telephone with the source of the report, and he assures us that he sees the same, or similar, light in different areas of the sky, at the same time of morning. PD

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #131544). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
