The report, as filed

Three of us were sitting around a campfire in the San Juan Cristo mountains when my friend's wife asked where the city of Westcliffe was he pointed to the direction and she replied I seen some lights something caught my eye I looked towards it and turned on my headlamp there was a UFO approximately 50-60 ft away in the scrub oak. It was about 35 ft long 15 to 20 ft tall hovering over the ground it had lights around the center probably 15 or more we stared at it for 15 to 20 seconds I turned to my friend to ask if he's seen what I seen I turned back to look at the at UFO and it was gone there was no sound coming or going the next day I looked to see if there was any sign there was not throughout the rest of the hunting season mini cars and trucks new and old had bought battery problems. A 1/4 mile as a crow flies my buddies and hunting camp had a very large creature visitor Camp around 2 a.m. it through rocks the size of basketballs onto the roof of the trail! er on the other trailer which is approximately 25 ft long on Jack's was shoved so hard that a teenager boy lying in the top bunk bed was tossed out of bed. The next day my friend's mom who works as a dispatcher for the sheriff's department called him she did not call her she asked if there was anything suspicious happening that night. Everything I have said is the truth!

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #161967). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
