Sphere over Gladwin, MI

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Husband, neighbor and I watched a brightly lit sphere at the dusk line of the southwest skies of Gladwin sit still for several minutes before slowly descending toward the ground or horizon line. Not a star or plane.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #129959). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

Yeah, just lay down to start watching shooting stars my mom and my two kids. Within five minutes my mom said look at that shooting star which it was not. It was very low, very bright round, light coming from the south west from the direction of town. It was lower than a plane, but still high in the sky. It was headed in the north east direction, and when it started shifting directions, it got brighter like the source was angle at us. And then started heading north or more of a north west direction and rising. There was no sound. It was much faster than a plane, much slower than a shooting star. It was no tail. It was like something I’ve never seen we kept her eyes onto it and continued actually into the direction of the big dipper. And actually disappeared ( continued out of our sight) into the center of the big dipper. That night, we also seen planes and seen a jet even heard the jet, but nothing to do with that light, just wanted it to be known we know the difference we like stargazing..

My stepdad was outside when he saw a line of bright lights that seemed to be moving from North to South. The lights were very small, but he knew something was off about tthem. Once he had me outside I looked up to the sky and I too saw the line of lights. Before he told me he thought they were moving I brought it up. He told me to go get the binoculars to get a slightly better look. When I came back out and looked up I started to shake immensely. I saw that they were moving very fast. As I watched the front object move forward past other lights in the sky it suddenly disappeared. My stepdad had watched it disappear too because he asked me if it just vanished from the sky. Then I took off the binoculars and noticed you could see about 6 at a time in a straight line with even gaps between them moving at about the same speed. Once one disappeared another appeared on the horizon. Eventually there was only one left and we watched it as it flew then suddenly disap! peared from view. We stood outside for a couple more minutes discussing what we had just witnessed. P.s. How they just vanished from sight kind of reminded me of in Star Wars when they go into hyper speed. That by far was the scariest thing I have ever witnessed and probably will witness in my entire life.

Straight line of three bright lights; solid. Almost seemed connected, if looking closely they all seemed connected by a thin white line. Did not follow what seemed to be a natural orbit compared to the visible satellites the sky at the time. The lights moved from the west to northeast at great speed. The best way to compare this would be to say it looked like orions belt moving quickly across the sky. Experience recorded by cellular device but lights are not visible but audio reactions audible. Space Link satellites. PD

My friend and had just stepped out in his driveway to look at what had suddenly become a beautiful, clear, starlit sky. We had seen two satellites and three shooting stars and were scanning the sky to the west, when about 1/3rd of the way between the horizon and directly overhead, towards WSW, a bright white light suddenly appeared, grew in brightness and size while stationary over the course of 5-10 seconds, flared briefly and with a small trail behind it, began to speed off to the WNW, not extremely fast, but faster than an jet aircraft at that height would have… The trail lasted only a second or two, and it turned into a bright dot that faded as it headed away, we watched it for 20-30 seconds as it faded out. Dogs across the street started barking at the same time and continued to do so for several minutes after the event.
