Light over Oysterville, WA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

I had just gotten home and it was a very clear night. There are no streetlights here and so the stars are quite clear. I looked up at the sky and saw a (silent) ball of light traveling steadily from West to East. (Coming from near the Pacific Ocean and heading towards Willapa Bay.) It had no colored lights like a plane. It had no flashing lights. It was just a ball of white light. When it was over Willapa Bay, I witnessed the light of the object turn completely dim until it faded out from white, to an orange glow to nothing. That was all that I saw basically. It appeared large and to be flying relatively low in the night sky. I took some video of the object on my iPhone, but it came out shakey and blurry. Basically nothing compared to what I saw.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #129165). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
