As reported

Sphere over Amesbury, MA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

We had a group of between 8 to 12 steady (not blinking) lights (some red and some whitish-yellow like car lights) low in the sky in the north. They were moving slowly and not in any formation. They moved around, changed positions, and were erratic. Some further away came up to form a small group of lights. No sound could be heard. They came from the northeast towards us then took an abrupt turn and headed north. An airplane did fly by in a straight line west to east during the time and we could hear it as well as see its blinking lights.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #128892). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
