As reported

Oval over Ham Lake, MN

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

8 months earlier my wife and I saw 2 balls of fire flying together in the dusk sky. They were low and fast and caught my attention because I could not discern their marker lights. I thought to myself that some hotshot private owners were out for a fighter joyride and acting like hooligans. Their flames made them look like fighter jets, but these were not fighter jets. They were completely silent and I noted aloud as they flew that we should have at least heard their roar by that point in time and at that distance. The speed they were travelling would have produced more of a scream at that proximity. They approached from the East in a staggered flight pattern and proceeded South perpendicular from my perspective, single file. By their appearance at profile, they did seem to each have a craft in front of the fiery ball, but it was nearly invisible. Truly the size of a fighter jet. Absolutely silent. I was chided by my wife, my witness, for being overzealous in my intrigue. 7/1 My wife and I were out stargazing when a single orange fireball made its way into view above the tree line. I pointed it out immediately and we both discussed its features and lack of markers again, as it approached. At this time we noticed a smaller, single propeller airplane at a much higher altitude, moving along the same path of travel. The sound of the plane was obvious, yet there was no sound from the fiery object, again. We watched as it approached from the East and swept South just like the first 2 we'd seen last Fall. This time, when the object turned South it became obscured by a small bunch of leaves and immediately disappeared. The bunch of leaves is that of a dying willow, so they are small, sparse and not continuous. At the speed and proximity of the object, it should have reappeared from behind the small leaves in a fraction of a second and would not have been completely obscured at any point, yet it never reappeared. My wife repeated that it'd come back about 6 times before she realized it'd just disappeared before us. We were amazed. We are not UFO people and have never had an experience like this before, so we were apprehensive to believe what we'd seen...until Google brought us here. These other sightings and immense similarities make us believe.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
