Light over Dallas, TX

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

My house is on Parkhurst Drive near its intersection with Northcliff Drive in northeast Dallas, Texas. I was outside in my back yard at 10:15 pm CST, on Saturday March 5, 2016. Most trees were still bare of leaves, affording a good view of the sky. To my southeast from behind the neighborhood housing, a moving single bright red light suddenly appeared at about 30-degrees elevation. It was flying level at about 3,000-ft altitude and at about 1-mile horizontal distance from me. It was traveling northeast, from my right to my left, along a path roughly estimated to follow Garland Road from Casa Linda Plaza to Whiterock Marketplace Shopping Center (Home Depot), where it then turned northward toward Lochwood Park. At first, I thought it was a small airplane in straight level flight without much variation. Its speed was about 200-mph, too fast to be a helicopter. I looked for any other lights, specifically white strobes and green navigation lights, but it only had! a steady intense red, visible from its left or port side toward me, proper for navigation. However, since it is illegal to fly below 10,000-feet without white lights, I quickly inferred that it was not an airplane or other human construct. No craft silhouette was visible because of the steady bright red light. I purposely listened intently for an airplane sound, but there was only dead silence. The craft then swung around from my southeast to my northeast, apparently making a 45-degree left turn, and headed along my northwest, keeping about 1-mile distance from me. When it was approaching my north, I lost sight of it because of trees. I watched it travel about 1.6-miles total distance and my sighting lasted about 30-seconds. It was somewhat low key. I have witnessed several anomalous objects over Dallas within the past three years, but had not paid attention to any before 2013. The different mindset that was forced upon me by my extremely vivid 2014 sighting has made me recognize that it is equally as important to identify UFOs as to discount them, and to not take a perpetually skeptical position. It is a much greater crime to see a flying saucer and dismiss it as “swamp gas” than to see swamp gas and label it as a “flying saucer.” When you see a light in the sky that does not behave like any normal object, it probably is not a normal object. Therefore, my conclusion is that this particular craft was a machine that is NOT man-made, because – 1. The lighting was illegal by FAA standards, 2. There was absolutely no sound at all, 3. The speed indicated a powered craft, 4. The large scale ruled out an RC toy, 5. The clock was late for normal small private airplane operations, 6. The flight path curved around my position and! was not straight, indicating some ulterior behavior, which made no sense for human piloting over northeast Dallas late at 10:15-pm.

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I noticed a large black object gliding through the sky, moving much more slowly than the airplanes in the area. It appeared much higher than the airplanes too, so it appeared to be larger than a jet airplane. Its shape looked at first like a large bird, then like a Y, and sometimes pretzel-shaped. The shape was difficult to make out. After floating across maybe a third of the sky, it began to hover just below the clouds, and it hovered in one spot for about 10 minutes before I left the area. It seemed too large and strangely shaped to be a drone. [NUFORC annotation: Balloon - Probable]

There was lighted orb in the sky, it emitted a circle of energy that went out horizontally from the center of the orb. We took out our phone and took a picture and a video. Video was started after it had emitted the energy. It then went way out into the distance looking like a star Falcon 9 SpaceX SLC-40, Cape Canaveral SFS [NUFORC annotation: Rocket - Certain]

It was like a sphere light I thought it's a helicopter but it was not It came closer as seen in video and I couldn't figure out how far it is. I could easily estimate the planes distances from love field airport but I couldn't even estimate its distance. I didn't see any iron or any attachment. It was just light. Object looks like a light from a distance, when observed through binoculars object is moving eracticly, very fast. Object hovers. Planes don't hover, stars don't hover and satellites don't move eracticly. Many people have witnessed this, have viewed it through binoculars and can't tell what it is. I see this object every night, it follows me wherever I go. [NUFORC annotation: Planet/Star - Probable]

Driving down the Dallas freeway we saw five craft that initially looked like aircraft lining up to land. After they stayed still and started to move off at 90 degree angles and flash on and off, and did not have additional aircraft lights, but were single orbs of light, we realized they were not normal aircraft. When we got back to the hotel, we continued watching the craft from the parking lot. One broke off and flew silently directly overhead at about 1,500 feet, at which point we could see a structure within the light. Craft continued to move slowly and silently past DFW airport and out of site. At times, they moved close to other aircraft and appeared to present a danger to aviation.

After turning from an “orb” shape to point of light, object emitted a cloud or vapor that drifted south. Appeared as if object went supersonic to create the vapor. The object had no flashing lights. There were also no clouds in the sky tonight to make object change apparent size. Other (commercial) aircraft were spotted in the same apparent position and running lights were clearly visible and again, no clouds. The object I saw flew in a straight path, roughly SSE and took about 3 minutes to go out of view but was flying at a speed I would think as “average” for a typical commercial aircraft. Going from a fairly large orb, to point of light to ejection of a vapor in the span of about 30-40 seconds, with no change in light intensity is something I have not witnessed before. Possibly it was a satellite but re-entry over a major population center? Also, I have seen satellites before but only outside of Dallas/Ft. Worth due to “light pollution”. This object, IMO opinion was illuminated too brightly (white) and flew at a trajectory too low to be lighted from the sun (which had set 45 minutes or more earlier). A military craft? Probable but if the vapor emission was the object going supersonic, there was no “boom”. In fact, there was no sound at all and I am several blocks removed from a higher traveled road.
