Sphere over Montpelier, VT
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
First, it was one flashing red orb, about the same size as a star. Then another one appeared to the right of it. As both flashed, one disappeared, then another one appeared, further to the right of the second. For a moment all three were there then all vanished, one by one. A few minutes later more appeared, as many as 5 or 6 at a time in the sky, near each other but not connected. They would disappear and reappear in a fashion that made it seem as though they were moving further off to the south in the sky until they disappeared beyond the treeline. A little later, two non-commercial planes flew off in that direction. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #125360). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

Maybe 20-30 seconds later another red flash just as bright light the sky again. Finally, I pulled over so I could put my head out the window and investigate further but that was all that happened. No noise at all, other cars in front of Mt were reacting as well.

Red light that hovered above Montpelier downtown during firework celebration. Seen from the top of National Life building. It hovered in place for 1-2 minutes, then would move to another random spot at a fast speed and hover again. No pattern or clear direction in movement, almost a zig zag pattern. But when it traveled it was a direct path. The only real visible shape was a round red light, same color as an airplane but not blinking and seemed to be very far away. At first observation, we thought it was a beacon on top of the building until it moved. After a time of about 20 minutes and prior to the fireworks ending, it simply flew away very fast heading northeast. There was no sound.

Witnessed a blinking red light. At first I thought it was a plane. However the object was accompanied by zero sound. The light appeared to move on fluid and zig zagging motions. Often the light would stop and hover before moving. At times the frequency of blinking became much more rapid. The light was also accompanied by a white blinking light that appeared to be attached to the red light. Object lingered for about seven minutes before moving slowly away to the east out of sight. Weather: partly to mostly cloudy. Light wind. Some visible moonlight from full moon.
