Light over Waterford, VA

A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.

The report, as filed

Two bright lights heading South by West. One following the other separated by three fingers at arm's length. Clear sky, some high clouds. No sound, however they were very far away. About 40 degrees above horizon. This area is in the landing pattern for Dulles airport and they were using no typical path through the area. Below clouds but no idea of altitude. I moved some as there were power lines and trees to look around but seemed that both disappeared, that is did not fly out of my sight line. I first thought they were just airplanes with sun glint, but the two together was unusual and it just didn't seem right.

Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #120273). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

Ask for the records

What would the paper say?

For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
