Sitting in back yard facing east, looking toward the backside of our home. Our home is in the flight path for the Salt Lake International Airport. As I looked over the top of our house, I saw what at first I thought was a large jet, but it was approaching from the wrong direction (from the east). It appeared to have 3 large, bright white lights, and one red light on the top. None of the lights were blinking. At some point during this experience, I realized I was looking at an extremely large craft. I called to my wife and asked her to bring me my camera while I continued to observe. It was coming closer, but was still quite high, obviously I don’t know the size of the craft, but I would guess it was at 8000 to 10,000 feet altitude. My wife called out that she could not find the camera (I was preparing to go on a trip the next day and had put it in a bag) so I started toward the house. At that point I could tell the craft was slowing down. As I walked toward our deck I nearly lost my balance and felt like I was becoming quite dizzy. I grabbed onto the handrail of the deck and looked back up and the craft was continuing to slow, then it made an approximately 90 degree turn to a northly direction and began to increase its altitude and speed. A cloud started to form around it as it climbed. I watched until it was completely out of my sight.
