Light over Ijamsville, MD
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
As my son and I were walking out of the school, we noticed a bright light above the southwestern horizon. We watched it for about 2 minutes. I thought that it was a plane heading toward us. I turned and began to walk to my car. As I turned, my son noticed the light move upwards and then to the east. Then it disappeared. He called out to me. As I turned back to look, the light was completely gone. I am not sure how far away from the object we were. So I’m not sure of the exact distance it traveled before disappearing. The apparent distance from the spot where we first noticed the light to where it disappeared was about 2 inches. It traveled this distance in about 2 seconds. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #115214). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
