Light over Belvidere, VT
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
This appears to be my second sighting within a year which is really quite exciting. The first was in Honeydew, California, back in October 2013, which was a string of sightings 3 nights in a row, around the same time every night, which lasted for about 5 minutes each time and was pretty spectacular. Tonight, there was a light, much redder and bigger than the other planets. I was staring at it the twinkling light when I watched it drop diagonally and come to a stop. Thinking it might have been my eyes, I rubbed them and re-focused on it, and lined it up with the branches of a pine tree on the horizon. The light was dipping up and down and moving left back to right, like it was circling a somewhat small area. It would stop and then continue dipping up and down, and making small circles. It was reddish orange, and once flickered white. It then just disappeared, and there were no clouds in the surrounding area, as I could still see all the other stars.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #111949). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.
Ask for the records
What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
