Light over Richmond Heights, MO
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
I looked up at an airplane flying overhead and closer to the horizon, a light caught my eye. The light was in the western sky, moving southward in a straight and slightly downward trajectory, much faster than the airplane above. It was silver and apparently very bright, for it stood out well against the orange and red sunset. The light was also apparently below the clouds, since as it passed by them, it was not covered up. As it moved, the light faded transparent, not dimmed, and disappeared. There was no sound. Witness elects to remain totally anonymous; provides no contact information. PD
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #112051). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.
