Light over Lohman, MO
A witness account on file, unevaluated. Most of the archive rests here, and honestly so.
The report, as filed
After watching fireworks, we were swimming when we noticed a strange orange object slowly moving across the sky. It was close to the horizon, and eventually disappeared into the treeline. A few minutes later, we noticed the exact same thing happen again in the same location in the sky. The objects were a solid orange color roughly in the shape of a horizontal oval and maintained a straight trajectory, not jumping around. The time was 10:00 PM, and it was a clear night.
Held as-reported from National UFO Reporting Center (record NUFORC #111062). Witness text is preserved verbatim, including its spelling; nothing is edited beyond formatting.

What would the paper say?
For a dated, located U.S. sighting, FAA radar data and ATC communications are the records most likely to exist. Through Aletheca, the house instrument, anyone can commission the request — filed, chased, and published in the open, refusals included. The draft goes over already written: the records sought, and the date window they would live in.

I noticed a metallic object in NW part of sky. It stood out because there were no contrails. I watched it move across a cloudless sky for about 30 seconds and then it disappeared. I watched the area to see if it would reappear but it did not. There were no clouds for it to go behind. It just was gone.
