Le 11 mai 2013 vers 22h30, un témoin voit apparaître au Nord Est de la ville 5 points lumineux jaunes-orangés se déplaçant lentement. L'intensité de ces points diminue progressivement et ils disparaissent. Cette observation, un samedi soir, est tout à fait compatible avec l'observation de lanternes thaï lâchées lors d'une fête, et se déplaçant au gré du vent, très faible à ce moment-là, et variable (voir relevé Météociel de St Etienne). Le GEIPAN classe ce cas "B" : observation probable de lanternes thaï. [GEIPAN classification B — Lanterne thai]
