Le samedi 11 mai 2013 à 23h45, un automobiliste et son fils apreçoivent dans le ciel une quarantaine de boules rouges se déplacant silencieusement dans le ciel. Le récit du témoin fait penser à des lanternes thaï, à une date et heure habituelles pour ces objets. L'estimation de distance et de taille des objets, est, comme très souvent, très incorrecte. Suite à la parution de l'évènement dans le journal, une personne s'est déclarée en gendarmerie comme ayant lâché des lanternes thaï dans le ciel de Domancy ce soir là, lors de la fête donnée pour son mariage.
