Le 19 décembre 2009 entre 20h30 et 21h 30 plusieurs témoins observent les déplacements de lumières rouges intenses au-dessus de l'océan. Le témoin principal fait état de 5 séquences d'observations durant lesquelles il aurait vu la même lumière. Le témoin ne se rendra pas à la gendarmerie du secteur et aucun autre témoignage ne sera recueilli sur ce phénomène. Par courrier du 09 juin 2010, le témoin principal informe le GEIPAN que son observation était une observation d'une lanterne thaïlandaise. [GEIPAN classification A — Lanterne thai]
