Le 8 avril 1996, un témoin en voiture observe durant quelques instants une boule de feu avec une trainée qui chutait vers le sol. Le phénomène était silencieux et la boule s'est éteinte subitement en devenant rouge sombre. Le description faite par le témoin correspond à l'observation d'une rentrée atmosphérique.
