Le 20 octobre 1988 entre 18 heures 45 et 19 heures, deux témoins observent le passage très rapide selon une trajectoire verticale d'une boule lumineuse bleu clair avec une trainée composée d'étincelles jaunes orangées. L'observation a été très brève (2 à 3 secondes) et silencieuse. La description faite par les témoins conduit à privilégier l'hypothèse d'une rentrée atmosphérique.
