Le 28 novembre 1981 à 0h 45, deux gendarmes en service, constatent dans le ciel, la présence d'une lumière extrèmement brillante. Celle-ci est immobile et semble clignoter. L'observation aux jumelles leur permet de distinguer sur le pourtour de cette lumière des éclats lumineux de plusieurs couleurs. Ceux-ci s'allument et s'éteignent de façon désordonnée. Les gendarmes ayant une carte celeste, ils situent le point lumineux à gauche de la constellation d'Orion. Cette observation durera plusieurs heures. Après une vérification sur un logiciel d'astronomie, ces témoins ont certainement aperçu, cette nuit là, Sirius, particulièrement visible dans le ciel en cette période de l'année.
