Le 29 janvier 1979 entre 20h 30 et 20h 45 un témoin observe, suite à un éclair, un point lumineux de couleur orange. Tout d'abord stationnaire, ce point commence une lente descente vers le sol tout en grossissant. Puis il prend une autre direction pour partir à l'horizontale à très grande vitesse et disparaître. Aucun bruit n'a été entendu durant l'observation qui a duré environ 2 à 3 minutes. Une hyphothèse émise par l'observatoire de Florac, contacté par la gendarmerie pour cette observation, était celle d'un phénomène de "foudre en boule" mais nous manquons de données pour valider ou non cette hypothèse.
