Le 17 mai 2009 vers 1heure du matin deux personnes constatent dans le ciel la présence d'une dizaine de points lumineux orangés. Ils semblent venir d'un même endroit et prennent tous silencieusement la direction de Grange-sur-Lot. Ils disparaissent à l'horizon. Le témoin fournira plusieurs photographies de reconstitution et de positionnement. L'enregistrement vidéo n'a malheureusement pas été transmis au GEIPAN. Aucun autre témoignage ne sera recueilli. D’étrangeté relativement faible mais de très bonne consistance grâce au témoignage détaillé, ce cas d’observation a toutes les caractéristiques d’une méprise avec un lâcher de lanternes thaï. L’absence de données météo précises sur le lieu d’observation et les relevés de la région s’opposent à une conclusion ferme. Ce cas est classé C : manque d’informations météo précises et de recoupements pour valider l’hypothèse de lanternes thaï. [GEIPAN classification C — Manque d'informations fiables]
